Sorry, I haven't blogged in SUCH a long time! My cousin is in town! Her name is SunMi, she was studying abroad in England and she was in Turkey for a while too. She's really fun and we're having a really great time! My other cousin, SunMi's brother, he's a rapper. Well, he's not a professional rapper, but that's his hobby, so SunMi and I found his website, I don't know what it is, but anyways, we heard him rap and we've never heard him before, he's REALLY good! It's amazing!

I just watched the best movie EVER!!!! It's called 'Across the Universe.' IT'S SO good!!

Okay, lets summarize:

Vietnam war, love, hippies, drugs and BEATLES songs!!!!! Probably the best combination ever known to man kind!!!

It's just good. I'm not even going to tell you about it. It's just so good and I am cyber-forcing you to go rent the damn movie! I'll find you!!!

It is a little PG-13-ish. So, yeah... There's sex, nudity and swearing, and drugs and sort of violence too. So it basically has everything a movie can have. (:

The Proposal Movie Review!

I saw the movie 'The Proposal' this weekend with my friend Taylor. I wasn't expecting anything great, so when we were done with the movie, I was like, "OH MY GOD!! THAT WAS SO HILARIOUS AND CUTE!!!" (maybe that's a bit of an exaggeration, but you get the point.) The movie was a bit predictable, but what made it unique is that there are so many funny parts and random characters!

ABOUT:

Margaret (Sandra Bullock) works for mega-rich company as Editor in Chief. All the employees are WAY intimidated by her authority and scary persona. Her assistant, Drew (Ryan Reynolds), on the other hand is sweet, and not so high-maintenance. He is just waiting for a promotion and will do ANYTHING to get it. Then, one day, Margaret gets called into the president of the company's office and is told she is going to be deported because her visa ran out and the forms she sent in didn't get sent. (Margaret is from Canada.) Then when Drew walks in and Margaret blurts out that they are getting married.

This movie is all about Margaret and Drew trying to convince people (and the immigration officer) that they are truly in love and going to get married.

It is SO funny and cute and nice! I would say anyone over the age of 12 could go, there are sexual references but no actual sex. Few swear words, and a bit of nudity.... (butts...) That's it though. Great movie to go with a group of friends. Try not to go by yourself, then, you'll be sitting all alone laughing hysterically and the people around you will think you're special.

Hi readers!! Sorry I haven't done this in a while. 'this' meaning "GET A GRIP PEOPLE!" Today, I will be writing about stereotypes. If it takes a long time, I will continue tomorrow, or the next day or sometime soon....

STEREOTYPES
Stereotypes are bad. Period. That's that. There's NOTHING good about stereotypes. If you think so, feel free to leave a comment.
I don't really understand how people even think of stereotypes! I mean, some might be somewhat true, but no stereotype is EVER 100% true. For example, asian people are nerdy. I've seen SO MANY Asian people that are no nerdier than white kids, or black kids or any type of kid. So, who made that up?!
GET A GRIP PEOPLE!!!!
And there are so many horrible stereotypes of "types" of people. Like, black people are "gangstas" and white people are rich and live in mansions in rich communities. WHAT THE F***?! (please excuse my french) I've seen plenty of white "gangstas" and lots of rich black people.
Another thing that is completely horrible, is that a lot of the villain-y people are asian or black! And the good people are white! GET A GRIP PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I mean, I must say, that some villains are white, but alot of the time, they are asian or black.

I'm In Boston!!!

Hello, everyone! I'm in Boston. I arrived on Sunday afternoon and a family friend picked my grandma and I up. Our family friend (Jane) she has SO much energy so we just went right on to touring, but we had a lot of fun, she lives in Hopkinton, which is about 45 minutes west of Boston. Now we are staying in a hotel in Boston, yesterday was our first day in Boston. Today I went to the rehearsal dinner of my grandma's cousin's wedding. Her name is Liz. Liz is getting married TOMORROW!! eep! So, I'm going to be a junior bridesmaid type thingy and we're going to have a lot of fun! The wedding is going to be kind of casual, but not casual as in jeans and a t-shirt, but not uber-formal like normal weddings are. I'm excited! I've never been to a wedding before actually, well except for this one wedding that I went to when I was like, seven and my mom's friend was getting married, but it was raining and they had the wedding in a garage and people were wearing, seriously jeans and a t-shirt! It was odd. Well, this wedding is very FANCY! Liz is kinda richie, so we'll see. :D

Drag Me to Hell -- Movie Review

This movie's release was perfect timing! This movie is all about this loan officer, Christine, who denies this extension of a loan to an old woman whose house is getting forclosed. (Perfect timing, like I said!) It's supposed to be a "horror" movie, but it is more like a CREEPER movie! The whole movie is just bizzare! Well, it's not the movie, in general that is bizzare, it's some of the events and ideas are just plain weird!!! (and sometimes gross!)

ABOUT:
Christine, the loan officer is competing for the assistant manager of a bank, and her boss is leaning towards Stu, her competitor, because he makes wise choices and is very opiniated in his desicions. So, when this old woman is asking for a third extension on her forclosure, Christine's boss tells her to do whatever she thinks is best. Christine says no after long contemplation and begging.
Later that night, when Christine is walking to her car, she sees this woman's car and is freaked out. She scurries to her car and is a little creeped out and jumpy. She sees this woman's handkercheif flying around, but no sign of the woman. Then, all of a sudden, the woman pops up out of nowhere in the back of Christine's car and she and the old lady start wrestling because Christine tries to run away, but the old woman pulls her head back with Christine's hair and then they start wrestling (?!). That was and odd part. Then the woman just totally drags Christine out of her car and rips the button off her sleeve and curses the button. (jsyk: whoever has the button, is cursed and shall be dragged to Hell, hence the name of the movie)
SO, the rest of the movie is made up of her trying to get rid of the curse and all these horrible things happen then... SPOILER ALERT!!!

I do reccomend this movie, but only to people with strong stomachs, some really gross stuff happens, like old ladies puking up boogers and maggots, spurting bloody noses, you get the point...
But I would give this movie a B or maybe an A- :)

Accepted- movie review

Last weekend I saw the movie "Accepted" with Justin Long, Blake Lively, and Jonah Hill. It's really funny.

High school senior, Bartleby Gaines (yes, that is his name) is applying to so many different colleges and he gets rejected... by all of them. After a little thinking and pulling of strings, he creates his own college; South Harmon Institute of Technology... that's right, S.H.I.T. Well, after his parents are so proud of Bartleby getting into a college, they want to see the website, campus and even the dean! Not only was Bartleby rejected by all the colleges he applied to, but so where his friends: Rory, Hands, and Glen. To solve the problems:

Rory finds an abandoned psychiatric hospital to use as the campus. They fix it up and make it modernized.

To find a dean, Bartleby knows a man that works at the local toy store and he is a total crazy! He is "hired" to be the dean for a week.

As for the website, Bartleby's nerdy friend, Sherman Shrader makes the website. It is very real and believable. Yet!, Sherman, he accidentally makes the "get accepted" page clickable, so anyone who clicks it, gets accepted. After Bartleby's parents are fooled, tons and tons of outcast kids start coming into S.H.I.T. and are being "accepted."

While all of this is happening, Bartleby's best friend Sherman, is trying to get accepted into a fraternity (KBE),he is going through "initiation." Which is actually all the guys in the fraternity making him do ridiculous things. Such as, stand in the middle of the campus in a hot dog suit and scream, "ask me about my weiner!" at people. Sherman thinks it is just simple initiation. This is all happening at Harmon College, supposed "sister school" with South Harmon Institute of Technology.

ALSO, meanwhile, Bartleby's major crush, Monica, is going to Harmon College. She is really popular and wants to be a photography major, but at Harmon, they don't have photography. So, she is a psychology major. When she sees South Harmon, she is amazed by their curriculum (learn what you want to learn) and joins.

You can probably predict the ending. Well, it was really funny, I'd probably give it a 3 out of 5. It is PG-13 so, you know what that means.

I have been SO busy lately! It's not even funny!!! That's why I haven't blogged in two weeks and one day. Hey, I guess it's not as long as I thought it was. Oh well. It feels like such a long time! I have had so many things going on! I slept over at my church with homeless people, I started the soccer season, I had a few tests, I got texting on my phone, I watched a movie, I had a few sleepovers, I colored a map and I'm preparing for my piano recital. I HAVE BEEN SO BUSY! UGG! (no, not the overpriced (yet cute) boots!) OH! and I have fallen in love with Twilight Zone! More in the above post.

Slumdog Millionaire Movie Review!

I didn't get a chance to see this in theatres so that was too bad, because I heard it was way better on the big screen, but I did rent it and it was great! Slumdog Millionaire is a great movie but it is definitely an 'R' movie, just the disturbing images and violence mainly.

Slumdog Millionaire is about 18 year-old, orphan, Jamal Malik from Mumbai, India. Jamal grew up in the Indian slums and has little/no education. His mother was killed when he was just a little kid and his older brother and him had been surviving on stolen goods and conned money. Jamal was invited to be on the Indian version of "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" and he is on a winning streak. The whole movie is basically made up of flashbacks from Jamal's past. The reason he is having so many flashbacks, is because the police are interrogating him about the reasons he knew all the answers. They are suspicious about that because Jamal had only a few years of education, they think he is cheating.

All of Jamal's life, he has been in love with this girl, Latika, and he has been trying to find her for about 12 years. That is a big part of the movie.

The movie is SO great. I give it about 90 stars out of five. Yeah, it's that great! It would be great, since it won 76 awards around the world!!! 8 of those being Oscars! Amazing, right?!

17 Again Movie Review

I went to see 17 Again last Saturday.... well it was great!! It had Zac Efron, Michelle Trachtenberg, Matthew Perry, and Leslie Mann. Those are some main actors.

The movie is about 37 year old, Mike O'Donnell who is having issues with his wife. His wife, Scarlett, has kicked him out of the house. Mike goes back to his high school and sees the picture of him when he was 17 and wishes that he was back in high school. A mysterious janitor comes and asks Mike if he wants to be back in high school. Later that night, Mike is driving and he sees that same janitor standing on the edge of a bridge, gets out of his car, but when he gets there, the janitor is gone. Mike looks over the brigde and... FALLS IN! He falls into a time warp thing, and he is 17 again! It is still 2009 but Mike is 17. Mike goes back to high school and he thinks, the reason he is back at high school is to redeem his basketball career, but after a while, he finds out why he is really back at high school....

This movie is so good!!! I reccomend it to everyone! But, it is kind of PG-13, there are a few sexual references, but if you are 13 anad over, I totally reccomend it! oh, and Zac Efron is totally gorgeous in this movie, I'm not a big Zac Efron fan, but I have to admit, he's totally hot in this movie!!!

Hannah Montana Movie!

I went to the Hannah Montana Movie with my cousin, Emma (serious Hannah Montana fan) and it was actually pretty good! It's about Miley Stewart (AKA, Hannah Montana) going to Tennessee and finding her true self. It was super cute. Well, Miley gets into big trouble, when Hannah Montana gets into a fight at a shoe store with Tyra Banks, so her dad (Robbie Ray Stewart) is really mad so they fly to Tennessee and stay there for two weeks as punishment, it's bad, because Hannah has to miss the Music Awards in New York. She meets a cute boy (Travis) and she has a great time. Though, the town they are staying in is in major need of money. Travis volunteers Miley to bring Hannah Montana, because earlier Miley said that her and Hannah Montana were really close, but Hannah Montana has to have lunch with the mayor of the town the same day as the date! So, Miley switches back and forth, then Travis follows her to the city hall where Hannah is eating and walks in on Hannah taking off her wig. He gets really mad at her for not telling him anything because he told her everything. Miley gets really stressed out and decides to tell the audience at the fundraiser that she is Hannah Montana. Then....I'm not going to tell you what happens at the end......

The Lord of the Rings partay!

We (emmy and I) call it the Partay because....well I don't know why.... sorry.... I'm REALLY excited all of a sudden. Okay, back to the partay, well we invited our friends Sarah, Debbi, and Victoria. There were six of us and we watched ALL the Lord of the Rings movies...well we didn't have time to watch the last one, because we only had until like, 3 pm, so that kinda sucked, but we had a great time!!! it was so great!

My New Favorite Bands!

I just found a new favorite band! actually, two. Oneis a Korean band and one is American, or maybe they're British, I don't know, they speak English. Okay, the Korean Band is called Big Bang. There are five members. It's a boy band, there are SO many of those in Korea! And the American/English speaking band is called The Ting Tings. Awesome name, right?! Okay well they are made up of just a guy and a girl, their music is so awesome! Both bands' music is awesome!

I spent two hours on it last night and then, of course, I just had to read the most amazing book of all time and couldn't fall asleep until I finished it. So, it's all the book's fault, for being so darn GREAT! It's called Freak Show. I know funny name right? The author is so hilarious! It's the second time I read the book, so, I didn't read the whole book last night. The author's name is James St. James. This is what he looks like!

NO! Japan won the World Baseball Classic!!! That makes me so sad! They had to go into the 10th inning and then Japan got a double! (two points at once) I was so mad at those little Japanese people. Sorry, not trying to be offensive. Korea lost 3 to 5. I put up a picture of what the Korea team would've looked like if they won <- see?

That makes me a little sad inside. But!, let's look at the bright side, Korea won the gold medal in the olympics for baseball, so they got one award that is special. I'm a bit happier now.

Gay Rights Part II

Previously on GET A GRIP PEOPLE!, I was saying that gay people have it really tough and that they get judged. People don't get a chance to know them because they are gay and they miss out on a great friend.

Proposition was a California ballot Proposition that was against gay marriage. The main reason that California banned gay marriage was because they thought it was an abomination and a sin. But do you think that those people that voted, ate shrimp? and shellfish? well that's an abomination. And there are no levels of abomination, so gay marriage is basically like eating some yummy shrimp cocktail. So the California government was picking and choosing what was bad and good.
Like I was saying, last time, people are missing out on some really cool people because they are prejudice against gay people. Gay people are just like heterosexual people only they like their sex people. It's not like they chose to be gay, they just need love, just like anyone else. I think that everyone should be able to love someone, whatever gender. People shouldn't be wasting their time trying to "convert" someone from homosexuality...'cause frankly, people, IT'S NOT GOING TO WORK! get over it and leave them alone. I think that our lives should be letting people love and loving other people and not trying to stop people from loving and being prejudice.

I'm watching the World Baseball Classic right now. Japan and USA are playing, whoever wins, gets to play Korea in the Championship game tomorrow! Right now, USA is winning. I hope Korea wins tomorrow, they won the gold medal in the olympic baseball tournament, so, I'm confident in their chances in winning.

Spring Break is OVER! (and I hate volleyball)

I may sound like some little geekie, but I want school to start! (if you didn't know, I'm on spring break) I can't wait for tomorrow! Then, everyone can see my new haircut! NOOOO!!!!! I have gym! I have stupid-big-butt-gym tomorrow!!! We are learning volleyball. Uggg! I wrote volleyball in small letters and in itallics, because I hate it and it doesn't deserve to be normal sized and not-itallisized. he he he... stupid little volleyball. Sorry, volleyball players, I don't hate the player, I hate the game.
If you didn't know, I can only to two athletic-y things, run very fast and play soccer. That's all, I can't throw, I can't run for very long distances though, so it's not like it's that helpful in the developing athlete that I'm becoming. *cough, cough, sarcasm, cough* I can play soccer, that's about it.
That kind of depressed me now, I think I'll go eat a brownie so I can be even farther away from that "athlete" in me.

I'm going to start a series about sad problems in society, this next few weeks or so, is going to be about anti-gay people.
People who know me well (Emmy, Georgia, and other dedicated following friends of Margaret), know, that I love gay people, I, myself am not gay, if I was, you would probably know that by now. I love gay people so much because, they are so discriminated against and it makes me sad. My uncles are gay, Clay Aiken is gay, a lot of cool people are gay and they are discriminated against! It's horrible, because some fundamentalist religions (for example: B'hai, Christian, Islam). Most fundamentalist religions think that they are right, so everyone else should shut up, basically that is how a lot of people feel. Even if they aren't uber-religious, people still don't accept homosexual people.
People think that being gay is immoral and bad-better known as "sin." Being gay is not something someone control, I don't think someone would choose to be gay, because I've seen in society that being gay is really hard.

I just figured out that the post before this was my 5oth post!!! YAY me! I'm so proud of my big accomplishment! Aren't you? Today I went shopping! It was fun, besides the fact that my foot cramped up and I was so tired that I wanted to crumple up on the display table of super cute shirts and take a long, deep entranced nap of greatness and awesome-osity. BUT! I didn't. I was on a mission, for a skirt (a fancy one) and a pair of fancy shoes. I ACCOMPLISHED MY MISSION! I got this black and white skirt! SO cute, last size two on the rack, I was psyched about that, and I got a pair of CUUTTEEEE shoes, with a slight heel, because I can't too trampy! They are like a satin-y black fabric, they are just open-toed with a little strappiness on the top. I also got a really cute top from Charlotte Russe (I love that place!) and I got a few other shirts too. THEN! I got a really yummy strawberry lemonade from the deliciously fatty pretzel place! I get one basically every time I go the mall. My record for finishing it is about 5 minutes! I have to go now, I LOVE YOU ALL!

HOORAY! everyone! It's spring break! I'm totally going on a shopping spree on Tuesday! Yay! I'm so glad it's spring, I was just so depressed during the winter. I'm serious, I would just sit in my room or in the living room and just be depressed about the horrible weather and that I couldn't play soccer outside and not freeze my butt off. That's a big thing that I look forward to in the spring....SOCCER! I love soccer. I don't play in a traveling league, I like to just play in-house. The competitiveness is too much for me. I like playing for the fun of playing soccer. :)

Okay, first of all, I'm sorry I haven't posted anything for a while. I've just been SO busy these days. Well, I watched this documentary called Jesus Camp. It's really good. It's creepy but REALLY informative and stuff. It is about this summer camp of Evangelical Christian kids. They are all about going to Hell and martyr (people who kill themselves for their religion) for Jesus. The main pastor woman, she says that the punishment for sin is death. All the woman does is just scare the poor little children that if they don't get "saved" by Jesus/God, they will rot in Hell. Their whole religion is mainly based off of fear. That is how a lot of Christian religions are. I believe that a religion should be about love and loving yourself, and happiness. That may sound cheesey and Hallmark card-ish, but it's true. That is why I'm a Unitarian Universalist, we accept anyone, just the way they are. We believe exclusively that why should we worry about all the little sins? We're gonna' sin, there's no way we can prevent that, but we should be worrying about all the big problems, like wars or racism, or sexism. The big picture ya' know?

Yesterday I went snow tubing with a few of my friends. It was so fun! I've never been before, so I was a little scared, but it turned out to be really relaxing going down the gigantic hill. Feeling the wind in your face, the adrenaline rush in your body, AWESOME! But, I hit this little bump and my butt hit the ground and that really hurt, so now I have a bruised butt. But it was worth it! (: That's exactly what the tube looked like only mine was blue.

Hello my MANY followers! I have a dilemma. Powerade (name shall not be revealed) was assaulting Lucy (also a fake name) today. He was being very vulgar and disgusting. Then Lucy smacked him the head. But MS is something that I probably shouldn't release online. It stands for something that you can try to figure out. So, yeah, just letting all of you in on this nonsense. I really wish I could release info, but I can't. But the bad part is that Lucy is madly in love with Powerade, but there is nothing she can do. She cannot control her deep affection for Powerade, but the thing is that Powerade is a MS and that, by the way, is a bad thing. This is all just a big SOAP OPERA! YES! It's like a soap opera. Movie Review: Lars and the Real Girl

Okay, this movie, Lars and the Real Girl, is so amazingly funny and cute! It is PG 13, but whatever, it's SO not PG 13. Well, I can't tell you much because my friend Emmy, is a follower of my blog and I can't give away the ending because she's gonna watch it soon. BUT!... I'll tell you this much:
This movie is so incredibly adorable. It is about a guy named Lars (hence the title) and he buys a life size doll (Bianca, yes, that is her name). Lars treats her as though she is a living person. They "fall in love" and Lars goes through an emotional journey with and without Bianca. While Lars is in love with Bianca, he starts to fall for his colleague. Lars' brother and sister in-law (the other two HUMANS in the picture), are very concerned and send him to Dr. Dagmar. The movie is just too funny! I SERIOUSLY reccomend it. The ending is so touching and surprising. I loved this movie!

I'm going to rant on the war in Iraq. The whole reason that the war started was because of George Bush's "assumption." He just assumed that the Iraqi army had nuclear weapons, but they didn't. Even if they did, why should we go over there. We (the USA) aren't the little care-takers of the world. We try to be, but we never will be. There will always be things that we can't control or "take care of." That's why I was SOOOO happy when Barack Obama was elected president. I'm not saying George Bush is a bad person, I'm just saying that he was bad at being president. I'm sure he is a good person and has good intentions.

OMG! This movie is so good! I reccomend it to everyone! even if you're no a soccer fan!

It's about a boy named Santiago and he's ACCEPTIONAL at soccer in Los Angeles and his family is very poor and he doesn't have a very good education. His father doesn't think people should have dreams because they'll just disappoint themselves and everyone around them. Santiago meets this man who is an ex-football recruiter from the UK. The ex-recruiter loves the way he plays and invites him to the UK. Of course, Santiago's father is COMPLETELY against it and says no, but Santiago's grandmother promised God, after Santiago's mother died, she would do anything in her power to make Santiago and his little brother's dreams come true. So, she buys him a ticket to the UK to try out and he stays with the ex-recruiter at his house. The next day he tries out at series of workshops to show his skills in "football" He doesn't do very well, so he gets a month to try to work on his skills and come back. He makes the B team, but is he willing to tell a secret that might get him kicked off the team?

This movie is PG-13 and has a bit of sexual content and you should be atleast 13 to watch it!

Heyyyyooo! how's it going everyone? If you've seen, I put a "picture of the week" up. I'm going to post a new one every friday! ok?! about personal hygiene! yay!
Okay, Personal Hygiene is VERY important. It shows who you are as a person. If you are smelly and have greasy hair and wear dirty clothes, it says, "I don't care about myself, so why should you?" Now, I understand if you're a little bit less-fortunate, but the least you could do is throw on a fragrance or deodorant and change your clothes!
If you have good personal hygiene and wear clean clothes, deodorant and take showers regularly, it says, "I care about myself and I have confidence!" There's another thing! If you have well-kept hygiene, then it can attract other peoples' attention and you can make friends. And then, you feel good about yourself! THEN, you gain confidence!

That's why Personal Hygiene is a big part of your life!!!! yay!
